Autobahn
I travel a fair amount on highways. Those hours are spent drawing what I see through the window, the things no one else seems interested in looking at having the choice of the ever present electronic devices. Over the years I have collected a serious amount of these quick drawings that are the basis for studio drawings in a bigger scale.
The ongoing Autobahn series began in 2006 and has known different iterations over the years. The series title comes from the homonymous song from the German band Kraftwerk that I was listening back then. The drawings present frontal car views or lateral bus views, depending on the circumstances.
In 2022 I decided to return to the series as the number of sketchbooks had grown with my weekly teaching travels. The 2022 series is composed of 90 small format drawings. The objective was to maintain the rough energy of the sketchbooks drawings, although there is a color plane to frame them and some occasional studio rectifications.
Clearly this is not the end of this series.
