Bodies

The physicality of bodies and their interactions have a festive component that interests me deeply in all its manifestations. I have an uncomplicated sex life and therefore bodies and sex are elements belonging to the set of daily situations that I experience, observe, investigate and draw. I don't feel guilty for my heterosexuality or for my greater interest in female bodies. I refuse to be considered misogynist or sexist because of the way I look and draw. I refuse the annulment of freedom and joy in my drawing.

I draw any body or interaction of bodies as long as they are visually interesting. It is not desire, voyeurism, and even less scandal that drives me to draw a body, only in what this subject allows to the drawing.

Like real sex, drawn sex is also mostly deeply comical when observed in an analytical way. With humor a sexually explicit situation is transformed into a joke, in some cases through the presence of a short text.

On the other hand, the drawing of body details acquires an abstracting character at the limit of the recognition of the thing represented. This decontextualisation allows the use of images with a strong sexual character that, when isolated, lose all this charge.

The situations of censorship on sexual themes that have occurred worldwide in the last few years, some of which I have experienced while mounting exhibitions, highlight an unhealthy sexuality on the part of those who forbid it, and I feel obliged to resist the fear of being limited in my artistic action. The freedom of the body in all its components and especially in its representation is non-negotiable.
