Landscapes

Landscape is a panoramic view, a detail seen on a trip on the highway, a tree, a dead animal, or an oyster shell. In all these possibilities I am interested in their linear rhythms so that I can translate them graphically through gestures.

There is an acute sense that the landscape is fabricated, that nothing is pure or untouched by human action, although the sound of birds around and the intense smells seem to contradict this idea. My drawings simultaneously refer to the lyricism of the landscape and the nostalgia of an unrecoverable time. However, even in these contexts it is possible to find the sublime through the editing of the images, by constructing a return to an idealised purity through the purifying action of drawing. The texts included in the drawings are a recovery, in the context of the studio, of the intense sensations that occurred during fieldwork, as each drawing puts me back in places and reactivates those memories.
